Anise essential oil is obtained from the seeds and dried ripe fruits of the plant. The plant is listed under Apiaceae (Umbelliferae), the most aromatic family of plants. Pimpinella Anisum is the native to Southwest Asia and Eastern Mediterranean region. The color of the oil varies from colorless to pale yellow depending on its consistency, and the main component of the oil is Anethole.

The Anise essential oil is extracted from the plant using the steam distillation method coupled with the fractional separation method. It has a pungent licorice type, sweet, fresh, and herbaceous smell.

Uses of Anise Seed Oil

Apart from being an energizer to the circulatory and respiratory system, it provides several other uses. Each oil has been an essential ingredient in many of the Chinse and Indian medicines in a minimal quantity. The oil is used for treating indigestion, muscular pains, cold, fever, asthma and is known to reduce the migraine and menstrual pain.
